The MDE & MDH have issued updated guidance for the following.
1) Masks do not need to be work by student athletes if the they are playing outside and are on the playing field. Masks must still be work if on the sideline or dugout by student athletes. Coaches, volunteers and spectators must also remain masked when outside.
2) Indoor sports must still wear masks at all times.
3) Masking will no longer be used as a factor for exposure assessment or to determine length of quarantines in the event of a determined exposure.
4) Testing of student athletes on a weekly basis is strongly encouraged - especially if athletes are not wearing masks during games.
As of 4-28-21 there were inconsistencies between the CDC and MDH over the masking rule for spectators - close monitoring of this development is recommended.
